Methodology
A practical outline of how recommendations are generated across FindYourIdeal properties.
1. Product eligibility
Products enter the candidate set only when they are actively available and have enough published product, price and retailer data to be assessed consistently.
2. Questionnaire-to-attribute mapping
Each answer maps to weighted product attributes (for example support profile, feel, budget tier, or forgiveness profile).
3. Scoring and ranking
A deterministic scoring model applies the category weights to every eligible product. The highest-scoring products are shown as Best Match, Alternative and Value options where relevant; no retailer can buy a higher rank.
4. Guardrails
- No paid inclusion in ranking logic
- No manual boost based on affiliate status
- Disclosure shown where affiliate links are present
5. Ongoing updates
Catalogues are checked when availability, product data or retailer coverage changes. Trust pages are reviewed at least quarterly, and material scoring changes are checked before release.
6. Evidence and limits
We use manufacturer specifications, retailer listings, published terms and documented category information. We do not claim hands-on testing unless a page explicitly says so, and recommendations are decision support rather than professional, medical or financial advice.
7. Change governance
Material model changes are reviewed before release and trust pages are updated if those changes affect user-facing explanations, disclosures, or route intent.
